Can’t Miss Tips

No matter your destination, aiming for a midweek overnight will give you the best chances of staying at a top campground and for some peace and quiet. Or, grab a last-minute weekend reservation during the off-season. The van will keep you warm and dry wherever you go!

Find a great day use area with a view to spend the day. If you end up farther out or at a busier campground than you would like to be, seek out a quieter day use area or trailhead to park the van (go ahead and cook, too!) and enjoy your day.

Still can’t find campgrounds or RV parks where you want to go? Try Hipcamp for unique campsites on private land. Be sure to read the access and site descriptions carefully, especially in the off-season, to avoid any potential issues. Alternatively, download the Campendium or iOverlander app to find free “wild camping” spots on BLM land. Note: about half of the spots on these apps need 4-wheel drive (which this van does not have). The van is front wheel drive with a low clearance, about the same as a Honda CR-V. Please read the reviews and descriptions carefully on these apps before heading out and please reach out if you have questions on a spot.
